With rising costs of checking a bag, many people are opting for traveling with a carry-on. If this is your case, you should be aware of the TSA rule of 3-1-1 for liquids.
For beauty lovers, like myself, it’s difficult to pack all essentials and still comply with the rules. Here are the top three tips that I’ve learned, help when you try to fit beauty items in travel size.
Travel Size Containers
Fortunately, travel size products are always found in stores. If you’re lucky enough to find a travel sized product of yours that you love, you’re in luck! However, if you can’t find your favorite product in a travel size, purchase empty travel size containers and fill them with your favorites.
Walmart, the Dollar Store, and Amazon have empty travel size containers that are 3oz and reusable for future trips. They have sprays, bottles, and even soft silicone containers. Many already come in a clear plastic bag ready to be packed and taken out of your suitcase when passing security.
Think you might need more product than what fits in the containers? Going on vacation for more than a week? Buy multiple containers and pack your favorite product in them!
These containers from Amazon are less than $15 and come with a variety of containers to choose from. You can put your conditioner, shampoo, toothbrush covers, and a spray bottle.
Want something a little less expensive? Try Walmart! This iGo Travel Bottle Kit is a great alternative.
Bars Over Liquids
Try to minimize liquids that you need to take with you. Instead of packing two bottles of liquid shampoo, why not try a solid bar?
Lush makes these shampoo bars that are great for traveling! The Lush Seanik Solid Shampoo is definitely on the pricey side, especially for one bar, but if you’re a frequent traveler or don’t have enough space in your carry-on, it’s worth the splurge.
Not set on the idea of bar shampoo? Well you can always change your roll-on deodorant to a stick, or even your facial cleanser.
If you’re used to a liquid formula, try and see if your facial cleanser has a bar option. Yes To Tomatoes Clear Skin Activated Charcoal Bar Soap is the bar of soap that I love and use dearly as a daily cleanser. It makes for a great travel companion, plus it will last you months!
Sample Size Items
Anytime I shop at Sephora, Ulta, or any department store that gifts samples, I try to save them up for travel. Whether it be toothpaste, concealer, or even perfume, I have a box in my closet with all the travel items I have received throughout and use them when I travel.
One item I love using sample size items for is perfume. Whenever I buy a perfume at a department store, I am always sure that I will get samples. I end up spraying it once or twice, and if I like it, I put it in my travel pile. If I don’t, I find family members to give them to.
If you don’t have any sample size perfumes, you can buy them. For less than $30, you can sample 10 women perfumes from Amazon. A better option, in my opinion, is the Travalo Excel Refillable Bottle Perfume which allows you to fill up directly from your favorite standard sized perfume bottle and it’s only $10.
Follow these three tips and your next trip will be closer to being stress free.
